Lack of Military Experience Endangers Troops

Two UH-60 Blackhawks were downed during a mission in Mogadishu that never needed to take place.The failed humanitarian mission in Somalia (1992-93) is a painful example of the dangers, especially to those in uniform, of presidential military inexperience, in this case Clinton’s. For details, check out PBS Frontline’s analysis of the failure. As both a career military veteran and former POW, Sen. John McCain intimately respects and understands American troops and fighting capacity. This first-hand military insight is crucial in preventing the capricious political posturing that resulted in the horrific deaths at Mogadishu — both civilian and military alike.
